Leadership Skillsets: Coaching & Mentoring

Coaching & Mentoring – first line, middle and senior managers

This Leadership Skillset has been designed to provide managers responsible for teams with the confidence and key skills required to coach and mentor their team members to improve performance and create opportunities for succession planning.

We explore the difference between coaching and mentoring and when it’s appropriate to adopt which approach.  We develop the knowledge, skills, behaviours and awareness to have effective coaching/mentoring conversations with your team members.

As line managers, we have the opportunity to shape and develop our team so they achieve their objectives to the best of their ability, and also to excite and motivate them to the possibilities their career can bring, developing aspirational thinking.  Investing time in our people helps to bring the very best of themselves to their work, even in very challenging contexts.

This Leadership Skillset will also allow plenty of opportunity for practice and feedback.  In-between the two sessions you will have the chance to practice in your own work environment to gain further insights to your coaching ability which will then be explored in Day 2.

We will provide the tools, methods and structure to explore how this can be achieved successfully using proven techniques based on the experience of theorists and practical work based examples.
